Bengkulu University’s Main Auditorium on the 4th floor of the Rectorate Building came alive on Friday, November 24, 2024, as hundreds of students from the Marine Science Program gathered for a public lecture by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, featuring speakers from the LPSPL Serang. The event, attended by both faculty members and students from various cohorts, drew more than 120 participants. The lecture commenced at 2 p.m. and concluded at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n

Dr. Yar Johan, M.Sc., representing the Marine Science Program, opened the event with a welcoming speech. He emphasized the significance of such public lectures for students to enrich their knowledge in the field of marine science. Dr. Johan also expressed gratitude to the speakers from the LPSPL Serang for their willingness to share their expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n

Moderated by Dr. Ali Muqsit, M.Sc., the main lecture session featured Muamar Mujab, S.T., and Achmad Feri Ariansyah, M.Si., representing the LPSPL Serang as the guest speakers. The atmosphere was vibrant as the lecture kicked off with a pre-test for the students, offering prizes to the top five performers and igniting enthusiasm among the participants. Muamar Mujab, S.T., began the presentation by discussing protected fish species and\/or CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) listed species. Achmad Feri Ariansyah, M.Sc., then expanded on the role and functions of the LPSPL Serang in the management of fisheries resources, particularly in the Bengkulu region, and highlighted opportunities for internships and collaborative thesis research for students.<\/p>\n\n\n

Following the presentations, a lively question and answer session ensued, facilitated by Dr. Ali Muqsit, M.Sc. Students enthusiastically posed questions related to CITES Appendix, government regulations, and various aspects of fisheries resource management. Each question was well-addressed by the speakers, providing clarity to the students. The discussion unfolded smoothly, with three discussion sessions and 3-4 questions per session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a conclusion, a post-test was conducted, and five students received attractive merchandise from the speakers. The event wrapped up at 4 p.m., running seamlessly without significant challenges. The organizing committee closed the occasion with a group photo session featuring the speakers, faculty members, and students. Following the photo session, participants dispersed in an orderly and congenial manner. This public lecture served as the culminating event for the Marine Science Program at the end of the 2023 academic year, inviting practitioners from both governmental and business sectors to share their insights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
