Rector, chairman of the senate, and the professors<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

University of Bengkulu (UNIB) celebrated the promotion of Prof. Ir. Wiryono, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Prof. Ir. Agus Susatya, M.Sc., Ph.D. from the Forestry Department, while Prof. Ir. Bandi Hermawan, M.Sc., Ph.D. from Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture to the rank of Professor on Wednesday (21\/12\/2022). The inaugural event was held at the Gedung Serba Guna<\/em> of UNIB and live on the University of Bengkulu’s Official Youtube channel.<\/p>\n

Prof. Wiryono was inaugurated as a Professor of Conservation Ecology. He has published many scientific publications and various books on ecology, conservation, and biodiversity that he has successfully written. Prof. Susatya was inaugurated as a Professor of Conservation Science. Prof Susastya is also known as a Rafflesia expert, with various kinds of scientific publications and books on conservation, Rafflesia, which he has successfully published.<\/p>\n

The Rector of UNIB, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E, M.Sc., said; hopefully, the inauguration of the professor can provide inspiration and important perspectives on the world of education, especially for the advancement of science and technology in the field of forestry globally. It must be realized that the achievement of professors is not only an individual achievement as a lecturer but also part of the university’s significant achievements. With the addition of 3 professors today, the number of professors at the University of Bengkulu has become 54 people; this shows that 6% of all University of Bengkulu lecturers are Professors.<\/p>\n\n

Prof. Wiryono<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

In his scientific oration, Prof. Wiryono raised the theme: “Ecosystem restoration and biodiversity to maintain the sustainability of ecosystem services.” Prof. Wiryono said that to maintain the sustainability of ecosystem services, he emphasized the importance of preserving the sustainability of environmental ecosystems by restoring ecosystems that we have damaged and conserving biological diversity. Prof. Wiryono also said the importance of conservation education for the younger generation to maintain the sustainability of ecosystem services.<\/p>\n\n

Prof. Agus Susatya<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

Prof. Agus Susatya’s scientific oration entitled: “traces of Rafflesia ecologicalists and conservation, in his scientific oration he said that the process of becoming an ecologist is not easy, exploration and research on Rafflesia in various forests in Indonesia that he has and how the existence of the Rafflesia population in the future. Prof. Agus also explained that Rafflesia is a plant with unique properties and, at the same time, holds many mysteries for plant science. Prof. Agus Susatya has recorded his name on The International Plant Names Index (IPNI) because he has found three new species of Rafflesia: Rafflesia Bengkuluensis, Rafflesia Lawangensis, and Rafflesia Kemumu.<\/p>\n

This professor’s inauguration means the number of professors in the UNIB forestry department has increased to 3 lecturers.<\/p>\n\n
