Developing Agrosilvopasture Tourism Potential at the P4S OMAH IJO
North Bengkulu, October 18, 2025. Lecturers from the Forestry Department (Forestry and Environmental Science Study Program), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, conducted a Community Service activity entitled “The Potential of Agrosilvopasture Tourism in Efforts to Increase Ecological and Economic Productivity at the OMAH IJO Self-Help Agriculture and Rural Training Center (P4S) in Tanjung Dalam Village, Ulok Kupai District, North Bengkulu Regency.” This activity aimed to optimize the integrated use of agricultural, forestry, and livestock land within the agrosilvopasture concept, which focuses on educational and sustainable ecotourism. Through this approach, the team of lecturers sought to provide solutions that could increase ecological productivity and the economic well-being of the surrounding community.

Community Service Team, Saprinurdin, S.Hut., M.For.EcosysSc., explained that the agrosilvopasture concept combines elements of agriculture (agro), forestry (silvo), and livestock (pasture) into one integrated, environmentally friendly system. “This agrosilvopasture model has great potential for development at the OMAH IJO P4S due to land availability, vegetation diversity, and local community support. In addition to maintaining ecosystem balance, this concept can also be developed as a conservation-based educational tourism platform,” said Saprinurdin, S.Hut., M.For.EcosysSc.
In this activity, the community service team carried out several main activities, including: Identifying potential land and local resources for agrosilvopasture development; Developing a design for integrated agricultural, forestry, and livestock systems; Training the community and P4S managers on sustainable integrated cultivation practices; and Introducing the concept of educational tourism based on conservation and productive agriculture.
This training and mentoring received a positive response from P4S managers and the local community. They believed that the development of agrosilvopasture tourism could become a new attraction for visitors while simultaneously boosting the village economy through tourism activities and agricultural products. The Head of the OMAH IJO Community Development Center (P4S), Hendri Suratin, expressed his appreciation for the University of Bengkulu’s continued support for its active role in village development through concrete activities.
“The guidance from the University of Bengkulu’s teaching team is very meaningful to us. By implementing the agrosilvopasture system, we are not only preserving the environment but also opening up integrated tourism and agricultural business opportunities for the surrounding community,” he said. Through this activity, the University of Bengkulu affirms its commitment to supporting village development based on local potential and environmental conservation, while also strengthening the role of P4S OMAH IJO as a center for learning and innovation in sustainable agriculture in North Bengkulu.
