Selly Ratna Sari, Lecturer of the Department of Agricultural Technology Increases the Capacity of Research Competency Development in the Talent Scouting Program in 2025

As a follow-up to letter Number 1926/B4/DT.04.02/2025 dated July 9, 2025 regarding the Offer to Register for the 2025 Talent Scouting Program organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, selected participants from various educational institutions in Indonesia have been announced. The 2025 Talent Scouting Program activities were held online on September 8-11, 2025, and were attended by 129 participants from various universities and research institutions. One of the participants representing the University of Bengkulu was Selly Ratna Sari, S.Pi., M.Si., a lecturer in the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture.

After going through the initial stage of selection, the participants who passed continued to the Focused Group Discussion (FGD) activity which was held offline on October 19-22, 2025 at Yogyakarta State University. This activity targets the preparation of draft research proposals and motivation letters, as a form of increasing academic capacity and readiness of participants to continue their studies to a higher level. Through this program, participants received briefings on strategies for preparing proposals, preparing for further studies, and information on various scholarship opportunities and international cooperation.

During the FGD, participants received intensive assistance from mentors from well-known universities in Indonesia in small groups of five members. Selly Ratna Sari, S.Pi., M.Si. is under the guidance of Prof. Dr. John Pariwono, Professor from the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB University). In his direction, Prof. John said that this activity is the first step in coaching young lecturers in developing research competence and academic readiness. He also expressed his willingness to continue to accompany participants until they successfully obtained scholarships and were accepted at the destination university.

Through participation in the 2025 Talent Scouting Program, Bengkulu University lecturers are expected to be more ready to compete at the national and international levels. This program is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of human resources in higher education, expand research collaboration networks, and support the improvement of the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
