Strengthening Student Competence in Scientific Steps in Agricultural Industrial Technology Research, Taufik Hidayat as BRIN Researcher Gives Lecture on Practitioners Teaching Research Methods
As part of efforts to strengthen student research competence, the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu held a Teaching Practitioner Activity in the Research Methods course on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Room 4 GB 1 of the University of Bengkulu.
This activity presented Taufik Hidayat, S.TP., M.P., Researcher of the Horticultural Research Center, Agricultural and Food Research Organization BRIN, as a resource person with the topic “Basic Steps in Scientific Research: Research Methods and Techniques.”
In his presentation, Taufik Hidayat emphasized that research is a structured scientific process to answer problems and find real solutions, especially in the context of agricultural industrial technology development. He systematically explained the stages of research, starting from problem identification and background preparation, literature study, formulation of objectives and hypotheses, research design, to data collection and analysis.
Through examples of research in the field of food industry, the speakers explained various approaches that are commonly used in Agricultural Industrial Technology research, such as:
- Experiment, to test the influence of variables on the quality of results.
- Survey, to obtain data from industry players, farmers, and consumers.
- Case Studies, to understand specific phenomena in factories or production systems.
- Descriptive Research and Observation, to describe factual conditions in the field.
In addition to discussing methods, he also underlined the importance of the relevance and usefulness of research results to the needs of the industry and the ability of students to analyze data accurately. “Good research not only meets the academic aspect, but also makes a real contribution to the development of the national agricultural and food industry,” said Taufik Hidayat.
This Teaching Practitioner activity is a collaborative vehicle between the academic world and research institutions, which is expected to be able to encourage students to think critically, systematically, and innovatively in carrying out research in the field of Agricultural Industrial Technology.
