HIMATIN Holds Agroindustry Class, Equips Students with Soft Skills and Professional Career Strategies

The Agricultural Industrial Technology Student Association (HIMATIN) of the University of Bengkulu again held an Agroindustry Class activity as an effort to increase students’ readiness to face the world of work. This activity is designed as a practical learning forum that presents alumni and experienced practitioners to share insights, experiences, and skills relevant to the needs of the professional world, especially in the agro-industrial sector.

This Agroindustry Class activity presents three main material sessions that discuss career development, soft skill improvement, and strategies for building personal branding in the digital era. Through this activity, students not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also interactive learning experiences through discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice.

In the first session, the activity presented Deva Agustin, S.T.P., M.Ling, an alumnus of the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, University of Bengkulu who shared his experience regarding his career journey in the industrial world. In this session, participants gained insight into the importance of building professional networking, strategies to prepare themselves to enter the world of work, and various career opportunities that can be pursued in the agro-industrial sector. The material was delivered communicatively and was complemented by discussions and question and answer sessions that provided opportunities for participants to dig deeper into information.

Furthermore, in the second session, participants received material on the development of soft skills, especially effective communication and public speaking skills which are needed in the professional world. This material is not only delivered in the form of theoretical presentations, but also equipped with short simulations that allow participants to directly practice good communication techniques. Through this session, students are expected to increase their confidence in conveying ideas, ideas, and interacting professionally in the work environment.

In the last session, the activity presented Michael Jerrycho Purba, S.T., which provides training on optimizing the LinkedIn platform as a means of personal branding and job search. Participants not only received material exposure on the importance of building professional profiles digitally, but also participated in practical workshops in creating and optimizing effective LinkedIn profiles. With this skill, students are expected to be able to increase opportunities in obtaining internship information, job opportunities, and building a wider professional network.

Through this series of Agroindustry Class activities, HIMATIN hopes that students can increase their readiness to face the challenges of the world of work by mastering a combination of hard skills, soft skills, and the ability to build professional networks. In addition, this activity is also a forum for students to learn directly from alumni and practitioners who have experience in their fields.

In the future, HIMATIN targets the Agroindustry Class to be a sustainable program that has a positive impact on the competency development of students of the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, University of Bengkulu. By presenting various speakers from professionals and alumni, this activity is expected to be able to equip students with broader insights, relevant skills, and motivation to continue to develop in facing the dynamics of the industrial world and the world of work in the future.
