The 2024 Agricultural Industry Technology Student Association Social Service Camp in Babakan Bogor Village, Kepahiang is Very Helpful for Villagers
From Friday to Sunday, May 3-5, 2024, a Social Service Camp will be held in Babakan Bogor Village, Kabawaten District, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province. This activity was carried out by the Agricultural Industry Technology Student Association, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. The Social Service Camp carried out raised the theme of improving the social spirit of HIMATIN cadres who are adaptive, innovative, and dedicative. The participants of the social service camp activity are students of the Department of Agricultural Technology, University of Bengkulu, class of 2023.
The first day of the social service camp began on Friday with the opening ceremony of the activity in the village field with local village officials and all participants of the social service camp. After the opening, participants were escorted to the adoptive parents of each group where participants would live and help the activities of their respective adoptive parents who worked as farmers.
In the evening, a movie watching activity was held with villagers in the village field. This activity was attended by all participants, villagers and adoptive parents. The watching activity was enthusiastically followed by residents and social service camp participants until it was completed.
On the second day, social service camp activities began with morning exercises together in the village field. After that, social service camp participants helped the activities of residents and adoptive parents in the garden. By noon, all participants prepare the necessities for the processed products bazaar that will be held after Zuhur prayers.
The processed products bazaar presents several processed agricultural products from groups of social service camp participants. The processed products sold are assessed for the best products which are judged by lecturers of the Department of Agricultural Technology who are present at the social service camp.
In the afternoon, a workshop was held at the village hall about the potential processing and product development of coffee. The workshop presented lecturers from the Department of Agricultural Technology, University of Bengkulu as resource persons and was attended by residents of Babakan Bogor Village, as workshop participants. The workshop material presented received an extraordinary response because most of the residents were coffee farmers so the material presented was very useful.
In the evening, an art performance was held from the participants of the social service camp. This activity was carried out at the Babakan Bogor village hall and witnessed by villagers.
On the third day, social service camp activities began with carrying out mutual assistance to clean the village environment and plant tree seedlings. This activity was carried out by the committee and participants of the social service camp and was also attended by villagers and village officials.
After doing the cleaning, the participants of the social service camp carried out an industrial visit to CV. HANUN Drinking Water and do a morning walk to the waterfall. The industrial visit provided understanding and knowledge to participants about the treatment and treatment process of drinking water.
In the afternoon, a group meal was held at the village hall. The meal was attended by adoptive parents, participants, the committee and villagers. This activity is the last agenda before closing as well as eating together as a sign of farewell to the residents of Babakan Bogor village.
After eating together and saying goodbye to the adoptive parents and cleaning up things, a closing ceremony was held with village officials and distribution of gifts at the village hall. At the closing, the committee thanked the villagers and village officials for accepting and allowing the implementation of the social service camp even to help all activities so that they could run successfully. At the end of the closing, in addition to the presentation of prizes for participants, plaques and certificates of gratitude from the committee were also handed over directly by the Chairman of HIMATIN to the Head of Babakan Bogor Village. The social service camp activity was closed with documentation with village officials.
