
THE 12th GUEST LECTURE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PROTECTION
On September 6th, 2024, the Department of Plant Protection successfully held its 12th Guest Lecture in the Dean’s Meeting Room, attended by students and lecturers. The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, represented by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D.
This guest lecture featured two distinguished keynote speakers. Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Subandiyah, M.Agr.Sc. from Gadjah Mada University presented her insights on “Current Huanglongbing Status and Management in Indonesia”, discussing the latest developments in controlling Huanglongbing (HLB) disease in citrus crops in Indonesia. Tahir Khurshid, Ph.D. from the New South Wales Department of Primary Industry, offered an illuminating presentation on “The Effect of Climate on Citrus Production”, exploring how climate change is impacting citrus production in Australia.
The engaging discussion session was skillfully moderated by Dr. Ir. Hendri Bustamam, M.S., one of the lecturers from the Department of Plant Protection, fostering lively interaction and insightful Q&A between the participants and the keynote speakers.
In addition to participants from the University of Bengkulu, the event was also broadcast live via Zoom and the Plant Protection YouTube channel, enabling attendees from various institutions to join and gain valuable knowledge from the discussions.
This guest lecture is part of the ongoing commitment to enhance knowledge, especially in the fields of plant pest and disease management. The event provided valuable insights and inspiration for all who attended.
