Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu: Learning Agriculture Beyond the Classroom

Padang, October 12–16, 2025 – The Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu program, organized by the Agroecotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, successfully brought students to explore West Sumatra for an immersive field learning experience in agriculture, environment, and local culture.

Educational and Cultural Exploration

Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu combined educational visits and cultural tours. Students visited:

  • BRMP Buah Tropika in Solok Regency

  • Department of Agronomy, Andalas University in Padang

  • Koperasi Solok Radjo Kopi in Alahan Panjang

Recreational stops included Jam Gadang, Harau Valley, Padang Beach, Siti Nurbaya Bridge, and Mandeh Island, where students experienced West Sumatra’s natural and cultural richness firsthand.

Participants and Learning Outcomes

The activity involved five fifth-semester students—M. Farkhan, Dean, Syahrul, Febri, and Rahma—accompanied by a supervising lecturer. Through Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu, they learned how agricultural development connects with community life, culture, and sustainability.

Lessons from Nature

Guided by the Minangkabau proverb “Alam takambang jadi guru” (Nature unfolds as a teacher), students reflected that true knowledge can also be gained through observing and understanding the environment around us.

The event strengthened the students’ academic curiosity, cultural appreciation, and teamwork spirit — all core values promoted by the University of Bengkulu’s Agroecotechnology Study Program.

Learning and Exploration Beyond the Classroom

Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu combined two main components: educational visits and recreational trips.
The academic destinations included:

  • Balai Riset dan Monitoring Buah Tropika (BRMP Buah Tropika) in Aripan, Solok Regency

  • Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University in Padang

  • Koperasi Solok Radjo Kopi in Alahan Panjang, Solok Regency

The recreational destinations included Jam Gadang in Bukittinggi, Harau Valley in Payakumbuh, Padang Beach and Siti Nurbaya Bridge in Padang City, and Mandeh Island in Pesisir Selatan.

Building Knowledge and Character

The activity was joined by five students—M. Farkhan, Dean, Syahrul, Febri, and Rahma (all fifth-semester students)—and one supervising lecturer. The goal was to enhance understanding of agriculture, culture, and community life through real-world experiences.

Throughout the journey, students learned that learning does not only occur in classrooms. Guided by the Minangkabau proverb “Alam takambang jadi guru” (Nature unfolds as a teacher), participants reflected on how observation and interaction with nature can lead to deeper understanding and wisdom.

Strengthening Educational Values

The Agrowidyawisata 2025 Universitas Bengkulu was successfully completed and left a positive impact on all participants. It strengthened academic connections, encouraged cultural appreciation, and inspired students to apply agricultural knowledge in real contexts.
