
UNIB TIP Lecturer Assists Education and Improvement of Ice Cream Performance at SMK Dangau Datuk Bengkulu
Lecturers of the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu carried out community service activities at SMK Agribisnis Dangau Datuk Bengkulu on Saturday, May 23, 2026. This activity raised the theme “Education and Improvement of Ice Cream Performance” as an effort to increase the knowledge and skills of participants in producing quality ice cream products that have better appeal.
The service activity was led by Dr. Zulman Efendi, S.TP., M.Sc. with team members Dr. Fitri E. Dewi Surawan, S.TP., M.Sc. and Ika Gusriani, S.TP., M.P. In this activity, the lecturer team provided material on the characteristics of good ice cream, starting from the texture, taste, to the appearance of the product which is one of the important factors in attracting consumer interest.
In addition to delivering the material, participants also participated in practice sessions and discussions about the ice cream making process and various efforts that can be made to improve product quality. Teachers and students seemed enthusiastic about participating in each stage of the activity, especially when discussing innovations that could be applied to produce ice cream with a softer texture and a more attractive appearance.
Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will gain a deeper understanding of ice cream processing as well as be able to apply this knowledge in product development in the school environment. This service is also a manifestation of the commitment of the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Program, University of Bengkulu in supporting the improvement of skills and practice-based food innovation in the community.
