Jakarta, July 28, 2026 – The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), through the Directorate General of Research and Development (Ditjen Risbang), successfully organized the National Grant Proposal Writing Workshop for Early-Career and Vocational Lecturers 2026. Held virtually via Zoom, the workshop brought together 950 participants from universities across Indonesia to enhance their capacity in preparing competitive national research grant proposals.

The workshop was designed to improve lecturers’ opportunities to secure national research funding by strengthening their proposal-writing skills and providing insights into current research policies and funding priorities. Through presentations from leading experts, participants gained practical knowledge to develop high-quality, innovative, and impactful research proposals.

The first session featured Dr. Yohanes Eko A. P., S.Si. from Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, who presented “Developing Research Expertise: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Define Research Expertise through Effective Prompting.” During the session, participants learned how artificial intelligence can be utilized to identify individual research strengths, refine academic expertise, and generate effective prompts that support the development of focused and competitive research topics.

The second session was delivered by Prof. Usep Suhud, M.Si., Ph.D. from Universitas Negeri Jakarta, who discussed “National Grant Policies and National Research Directions.” He explained the latest government policies on research funding, strategic national research priorities, and the importance of aligning research proposals with Indonesia’s long-term development agenda. Participants also received guidance on understanding funding schemes and identifying research themes with strong national relevance.

The workshop concluded with the third session presented by Prof. Chandra W. Purnomo from Universitas Gadjah Mada, entitled “Proposal Preparation.” The session focused on the essential elements of a successful grant proposal, including problem identification, research objectives, methodology, budgeting, expected outputs, and proposal evaluation criteria. Practical recommendations and common mistakes encountered during proposal reviews were also discussed to help participants improve the quality of their submissions.

Throughout the event, participants actively engaged in discussions and question-and-answer sessions with the speakers, creating an interactive learning environment despite the fully online format. The workshop also encouraged networking among lecturers from various disciplines and institutions, fostering future research collaboration across Indonesia.

As part of Kemendiktisaintek’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s research ecosystem, the workshop reflects the ministry’s continuous efforts to support early-career and vocational lecturers in developing competitive research proposals that contribute to scientific advancement, technological innovation, and sustainable national development.

By equipping participants with practical proposal-writing strategies, a clear understanding of national research priorities, and the effective use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the workshop is expected to increase the success rate of national grant applications and cultivate a stronger culture of research excellence within Indonesian higher education institutions.
