Congratulations for The Inauguration of Three Faperta Professors

The inauguration of three Faperta professors and one Faculty of Law Professor will be held by the Bengkulu University SENAT on Tuesday afternoon (18/7/2023) at Gedung Serba Guna (GSG) UNIB. The inauguration of professors will be carried out by the Rector of UNIB, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E, M.Sc accompanied by the Head of the University Senate Prof. Safnil, MA, Ph.D, witnessed by dozens of invited guests and their families. The inaugurated Professors: Prof. Ir. Fahrurrozi, M.Sc, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Faiz Barchia, M.Sc and Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt, M.Sc, Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Candra Irawan, SH, M.Hum. Check out the profiles of the new Faperta professors as follows:

1. Dr. Ir. Fahrurrozi, M.Sc. (Professor of Horticulture): Born in Curup in 1964, son of Mr. H. A. Aziz Wahab, BA and Mrs. Hj. Yuliana (Almh). His wife is named Meliniyanti, S.P, and he has two sons, Fahri Razaly Aziz, S.Sos, and Fikri Maulana Aziz. The level of formal education that Prof. Fahrurrozi; Elementary school at SDN 2 Teladan Curup, Rejang Lebong – Bengkulu (graduated 1976), junior high school at SMPN 1 Bengkulu City (graduated 1980), senior high school at SMAN 2 Bengkulu City (graduated 1983). Next, the undergraduate level (Ir) at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (graduated 1988), the Master of Science (M.Sc) level at the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science, McGill University, Montreal, Canada (graduated 1994), and the Doctor of Philosophy level (Ph.D.) also at the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science, McGill University, Montreal, Canada (graduated 2000). The courses taught by Prof. Fahrurrozi both as a lecturer in Undergraduate (S1), Postgraduate (S2 and S3) programs at the Faculty of Agriculture UNIB, namely Horticultural Plant Production Technology, Fundamentals of Agronomy, Introduction to Agricultural Science, Sustainable Agriculture Systems, Plant Ecophysiology, and Plant Production on Marginal Lands. Prof. Fahrurrozi has produced approximately 76 scientific publications in national and international accredited journals in the last ten years. Of the 76 scientific publications, the three most recent publications are entitled: Agronomic Responses of Sweet Corn – Peanut Intercropping to Liquid Organic Fertilizer Grown in Different Dosages of Vermicompost; Identification of lactic acid bacteria isolated from ethnic fermented bamboo shoots “Lemea” in Bengkulu, Indonesia; and Growth and yield responses of black soybean to bio activator-enriched goat manures amended with Trichoderma. Prof. Fahrurrozi has produced 20 research and 15 community service titles in the last ten years. His three latest research titles are Study on the Development of Moringa Leaves and Seaweed Based Liquid Organic Fertilizer for Sweet Potato Production in Coastal Lands; Utilization of Slaughterhouse Waste in the Development of Goat Manure-Based Solid Organic Fertilizer for Organic Vegetable Production in Coastal Lands; and Efficacy and Consistency Test of Local Resource-based Liquid Organic Fertilizer for Vegetable Production in Closed Farming Systems. Moreover, the three most recent community services carried out by Prof. Fahrurrozi, namely: Simple Hydroponic Production of Leaf Vegetables with Self-Mixed Nutrients Sourced from POC Materials and Compound Fertilizers, in Rawa Makmur Permai Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City; Member of the Regional Carbon Council and the Expert Team for Deforestation and Forest Degradation Activities (REDD+) of Bengkulu Province; and Strengthening Production-Based Farmer Groups and Horticultural Plant Agrotourism in Mojorejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, Kab. Rejang Lebong. Prof. Fahrurrozi is also experienced as a paper presenter, writing team, and organizer of scientific meetings at national and international levels. Also a reviewer for Scopus-accredited journals, including the Journal of Agriculture and Food Research (https://www.sciencedirect.com), HELIYON (https://www.cell.com/heliyon/home), NJAS – Wageningen Journal of Life Sciences (https://www.journals.elsevier.com), and Journal of Agriculture and Food Research https://www.journals.elsevier.com). Not only that, Prof. Fahrurrozi, in his dedication so far, has also obtained Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), namely the Right to Protection of Chili Plant Variety CHR17 (PVT in 2020), Registration Certificate of UNIB Chili Plant Variety CH73 (TDVT in 2015), and Registration Certificate of UNIB Dwipurpose Chili Plant Varieties ( TDVT 2015). I also wrote a joint and individual book: Land Productivity in Closed Agricultural Systems. (Book Chapter) published in 2023; Liquid Organic Fertilizer for Vegetable Production in Closed Farming Systems published in 2022; and a book entitled PLASTICULTURE: The Use of Plastic Mulch for Vegetable Production, which was published in 2018. Besides academics and scientific work, Prof. Fahrurrozi has a wealth of experience as a member or organization administrator. In professional organizations, now Prof. Fahrurrozi is listed as a Member of the Association of Agricultural Technology in Southeast Asia (AATSEA), Member of the Indonesian Agroecotechnology Association (PAGI), Member of the Bengkulu Indonesian Agronomy Association (Peragi), Member of the Indonesian Horticultural Association Bengkulu Commissariat, Member of the Indonesian Horticultural Association, Member of the American Society for Horticultural Sciences 1993-1995/1999-2001, and Indonesian Society of Farmers and Organic Agriculture (Maporina). In higher education management (UNIB), Prof. Fahrurrozi currently serves as Chair of the Doctor of Agricultural Science Study Program, and has served as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture (2016-2020), Assistant Rector for Academic Affairs (2005-2013), Plt. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (2012-2013), Postgraduate Program Coordinator (2005-2009), Engineering Program Coordinator (2005-2007), Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture (2004-2005), Chair of the Agricultural Cultivation Department, and Head of the Agronomy Study Program Faculty of Agriculture (2001-2003). Then, Prof. Fahrurrozi has also been entrusted with being the manager of higher education support units, such as Director of the Project Management Unit (PMU) SFD LOAN Establishment of University Hospital Bengkulu University (2020-2021), Country Representative Regional Network on Poverty Eradication (RENPER) (2013-2021) Prof. IMHERE (2006-2012), Director of LPIU DUElike PGSD (2006-2008), Assistant Director. Bid. Academic, LPIU DUE Project (2001-2002), Internal Monitoring and Evaluation Team Coordinator for PHK & Blockgrants (2006-2013). For his dedication and dedication so far, Prof. Fahrurrozi has won the Outstanding Leader Award 2022, in the criteria of “Research and Development” from the President of AATSEA (Association of Agriculture Technology in Southeast Asia), and the 20-year Satyadinding Karya Satya Award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

2. Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Faiz Barchia, M.Sc. (Professor of Soil Science): Born in Sri Tanjung in 1959, son of H. Barchia Idris (Alm) and Hj. Fatimah bint Abdullah (Almh). Wife named Dr. dr. Ria Ariesta, M.Pd, and this couple have three children, namely dr. Ummi Kaltsum, dr. Aulia Ulfah, and Fawwaz Saifani Muhammad, ST. The formal education he has taken is: Starting from elementary school at SDN Sri Tanjung (graduated 1971), junior high at Sri Tanjung Private Middle School (graduated 1974), and high school at SMAN Teluk Betung (graduated 1977). He then continued to Bachelor (S1) level at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) Palembang (graduated 1985), Master (S2) at the University of Sydney (graduated 1995), and Doctoral (S3) at the Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University / IPB (graduated 2002). In addition to formal education, he attended “Innovation Systems and Science Park Management” and “Entrepreneurship and Science Park Development” training in 2015 and 2016 in Sweden-Denmark. As a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture, UNIB, Prof. Muhammad Faiz Barchia teaches several courses, including Fundamentals of Soil Science; Fertility and Fertilization; Soil Ecology; Bioremediation; Land Degradation and Restoration; Soil and Water Conservation; Watershed Management; Indonesian Land Geography; Geomorphology and Landscape Analysis; Waste Management; Management of Natural Resources & Environment; and Conservation of Agricultural Resources. Besides teaching, Prof. Muhammad Faiz Barchia also conducts research and community service. The research titles he has produced in the last five years include; Analysis of Sustainability of Irrigated Paddy Fields in Bengkulu; Characteristics, Amelioration, Changes in Land Use and Sustainability of Rice Cultivation on Peatlands in Mukomuko; Availability of Soil Nutrients and Nutrient Absorption about Rice Yields in Peat Swamps; and Evaluation of Land, Cultivation and Development Strategies for Shallot Production Centers in the Cawang Kidau Irrigation Area, Kaur District. Then the experience of community service that he has carried out in the last five years, including: As Chair of the Regional Research Council of Central Bengkulu Regency (2019-2023), Member of Expert Staff for the Acceleration of Development of Kaur Regency (2022, 2023), Expert Staff for Drafting the Pergub Regional Action Plan Reduction and Mercury Elimination (2022), Expert Staff for Drafting Raperda on Industrial Development Plans for Bengkulu Province (2019), Expert Staff for Compilation of Environmental Support and Accommodation Capacity (DDDTLH) Central Bengkulu Regency (2019), Expert Staff for Compilation of Carrying Capacity and Environmental Capacity (DDDTLH) of Kepahiang Regency (2019) and Expert Staff at the Regional National Crafts Council of Bengkulu Province (2021-2024). In the field of writing scientific papers, during the last five years, Prof. Muhammad Faiz Barchia, both jointly and individually has produced 25 international publication titles, including the title: Land use change from marginal peaty rice fields to other land uses in Air Hitam irrigation area, Bengkulu, Indonesia (https://iopscience. iop.org); Spatial Prediction of Soil Erodibility Indices of the Sensitive Landscape of Bengkulu Watershed, Indonesia (https://www.ijesd.org); Estimation of aboveground carbon stock using the eight operation land imagery in the Lemo Nakai community forest, Indonesia (https://doi.org); Sustainability Of Rice Cultivation In Irrigated Paddy Fields In The Highlands Of Bengkulu, Indonesia (https://eudl.eu/proceedings); and entitled Plant nutrient uptake and rice growth on marginal peat soil as affected by dolomite and NPK compounds (http://www.ijat-aatsea.com). In working so far, Prof. Muhammad Faiz Barchia has obtained three copyrights, namely with the theme Landuse Map (2000) Air Manjuto Area (2021), Landuse Map (2019) Air Manjuto Area (2021), and Posters on the Use of Sawdust as a Media for Growing Oyster Mushrooms in Kelurahan Banyan Raya (2022). In tertiary management, Prof. Muhammad Faiz Barchia had experience as Secretary of Bapel KKN LPPM UNIB (1996-1998), Head of P3KKN LPPM UNIB (2004-2006), and Head of Center for Business and Technology Incubator Development of LPPM UNIB (2001, 2002, 2003).

3. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Professor of Animal Production Science): Born in Pangkal Pinang in 1974, son of Mr. H. Basuki Urip bin Urip Kartoredjo and Mrs. Hj. Idjazah bint Abdul Manan Hamzah. His wife is Yossie Yumiati, SP, M.Sc, and this couple has two children named Jeihan Fachriza Dinalya, S.Hum and Dhiazra Yoriko Chairunnisa. Undergraduate level education (S1) taken by Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (graduated in 1998). Then he continued his Masters (S2) studies in Animal Reproductive Physiology at Gifu University Japan (graduated 2005) with an M.Sc degree and Doctoral level studies (S3) in the same field and university, namely at Gifu University Japan (graduated 2008) with a Ph. .d. As a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture in both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs, Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto teaches several courses, including Animal Reproduction Technology; Livestock Reproduction; Scientific papers; Management of Biological Natural Resources; Management of Natural Resources and the Environment; Livestock Behavior; Management of Various Livestock; Various Potential Animals; Conservation and Management of Biological Wealth; and Dissertation / Colloquium Proposals. Besides actively teaching, Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto is also active in conducting research and writing and publishing scientific papers in nationally and internationally accredited journals using English, Japanese and Indonesian. In total, he has produced 89 scientific article titles; 14 articles in international journals (Scopus Q2, Scopus Q3, and Scopus Q4), 25 scientific articles in national journals (SINTA 2, SINTA 3 and SINTA 4), 16 articles in international seminar proceedings, 23 articles in national seminar proceedings, and 11 papers Scholars who obtain (holders) Copyright. Then the title of the research that was done by Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto in the last five years, including Bioacoustic Study of the Sound of the Stone Magpie (Copsychus malabaricus) Ex Situ Domestication (2022); Application of Herbal Extracts to Stimulate Rumen Development Performance and Mitigation of Methane Gas in Calves in the Feed Transition Period (2022); Analysis of Population Development and Production of Burgo Chicken in Central Bengkulu Regency and Development Scenario (2022); Application of Animal-Focal Sampling in Investigating the Reproductive Behavior of Cloaca Display in Domesticated Magpie Batu (2021); and research entitled Reproductive Physiology Studies Effects of Katuk (Sauropus androgynous L.Merr) Flour Supplementation on Progesterone and Estradiol-17 Hormone Concentrations? In Blood and the Number and Size of Follicles in the Reproductive Organs of Female Kampung Chicken (2020). In higher education management (UNIB), Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto has held several positions, including Head of the Foreign Cooperation Team (2009-2012), Head of Animal Husbandry Laboratory (2010-2012); Head of UPT International Cooperation and Services (2012-2014); and Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture (2014-2018). He is also experienced as an administrator and member of professional organizations, namely, among others: Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Breeding Association (PERIPI) for the 2022/2025 period; Member of the Indonesian Association of Animal Husbandry Scholars (ISPI) 2021-present; Member of Indonesian Animal Reproduction Association (ARHI) 2021-present; Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI Gifu) 2003/2005; Member of the Indonesian Youth Retired Caraka (PCMI) 1995-present; Chairman of the Animal Husbandry Student Professional Association (HIPROMATER) 1993-1994; and Deputy Chairperson of the Youth Red Cross at SMAN 2 Bengkulu in 1989-1990.
