Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science Holds First Doctoral Research Progress Seminar on the Potential of Local Microorganisms to Support Forage Production
As part of its ongoing academic activities, the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, conducted the First Doctoral Research Progress Seminar on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The seminar took place at the Graduate Seminar Room, Faculty of Agriculture, starting at 2:30 PM.
The event featured a presentation by a doctoral student as part of the academic requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. The seminar was attended by a panel consisting of the supervisory committee and two external examiners: Prof. Ir. Zainal Muktamar, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Prof. Ir. Nanik Setyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Dr. Nurmeiliasari, S.Pt., M.Sc.Ag.; Prof. Ir. Fahrurrozi, M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Dr. Sukisno, S.P., M.Si. Their participation reflects the program’s dedication to maintaining the academic quality and research excellence of its doctoral students.
In this seminar, the doctoral student presented a research proposal entitled “Potential Performance of Local Microorganisms (MOL) in Supporting the Production of Forage Crops.” The research focuses on the role of locally sourced beneficial microorganisms in improving soil health and enhancing the growth of forage plants, which play an essential role in sustainable livestock feed production. The study aims to explore how local bioresources can be optimized to reduce dependency on chemical inputs and strengthen environmentally friendly agricultural systems.
The panel of examiners provided valuable insights and constructive feedback to strengthen the research design and ensure that the study aligns with sustainable agricultural development goals. Discussions highlighted the importance of utilizing local microbial resources, emphasizing innovation in microbial-based technology for improving feed productivity and quality. Through this activity, the Faculty of Agriculture reaffirms its commitment to developing competent researchers capable of addressing key challenges in agricultural sustainability. The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science continues to support its doctoral candidates in producing research that contributes meaningfully to Indonesia’s agricultural innovation and food security.
