
Public Lecture Explores Dynamic System Models and Community-Based Environmental Management 2025
The Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, successfully held a Public Lecture on September 25, 2025, focusing on innovative approaches to environmental assessment and community-based environmental management. The event was a collaborative effort between four study programs: the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science, the Doctoral Program in Natural Resource Management, the Master Program in Natural Resource Management, and the Master Program in Agribusiness.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture. The session was also attended by the Heads of each postgraduate program, along with lecturers and students who actively participated in the discussion.
The first session was delivered by Dr. Ir. Mahawan Karuniasa, MM., from the Paris Committee on Capacity Building (PCCB), who presented “Dynamic System Models for Environmental Assessment Strategies.” His presentation emphasized the application of system dynamics in evaluating environmental systems and formulating effective strategies for sustainable environmental management.
The second speaker, Muhamad Eko Ardiyanto, ST., ME., M.Ling., a practitioner in GIS, remote sensing, and environmental planning, discussed “Community-Based Environmental Management: Integration of GIS and Participatory Mapping.” He highlighted the significance of integrating geospatial analysis with participatory approaches to strengthen community involvement and improve environmental governance.
The lecture encouraged academic dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration among participants. Through this event, the Faculty of Agriculture reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research-based education and fostering continuous collaboration among postgraduate programs in promoting innovative and sustainable solutions to global environmental challenges.
