Prof. Dr. Ir. Atra Romeida, M.Si.

The Doctoral in Natural Resource Management (DNRM) of the Faculty of Agriculture, The University of Bengkulu was founded in response to the lack of doctoral program in the field of environmental resource management, particularly in western Indonesia. DNRM has an emphasis on the environmental resource management for coastal areas in the tropics by taking into account the characteristics of the Bengkulu Province, which is on the west coast of the island of Sumatera.

Since the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education’s Decree about Permits for the Opening of Doctoral Program in Natural Environmental Resource Management was published, the DNRM has been put into operation.  DNRM’s objective is scientific development in resolving environmental resource management issues in tropical coastal areas, with the scientific vision of “Developing natural resources and environmental management science for academically known tropical and coastal forest areas in Southeast Asia 2028”. Profiles of graduates of the doctoral program are prepared based on the market demands as Decision Makers, Experts (Consultants), Lecturers or Researchers.

The implementation of DNRM is supported by a number of lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture or the University with 39 lecturers, 14 of whom are professors, assigned definitively in the study program.  With a high commitment, the entire academic community is determined to support DNRM to become a doctoral study program that is known and recognized internationally.
