Driving Innovation in Sustainable Resource Management: Meet Prof. Yudhy Harini Bertham

Prof. Dr. Ir. Rr. Yudhy Harini Bertham, M.P., born in Surabaya on May 30, 1958, is a full professor and holds the structural position of IVC/Principal Supervisor at the University of Bengkulu. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at University of Jember and his Master’s degree at Gadjah Mada University in Soil Science, followed by a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Bogor Agricultural University in Forestry Science.
As the Head of the PSDA Doctoral Program, Prof. Yudhy teaches key courses including Fundamentals of Soil Science, Soil Fertility, Soil Biology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Tropical Agriculture in Coastal Areas, and Soil Biodiversity Conservation. He also supervises doctoral students conducting innovative research in sustainable natural resource management.
Prof. Yudhy has extensive experience in research and community service, including projects on CO₂ emission mitigation, soil quality improvement, and sustainable crop production in coastal areas of Bengkulu, as well as the development of organic and microbial fertilizers. He has authored numerous scientific articles in national and international journals and published books on organic and bio-based crop cultivation.
Beyond his academic and research roles, Prof. Yudhy serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several scientific journals, including TERRA: Journal of Land Restoration, and contributes to policy consultation and social engineering projects.
As the leader of the PSDA Doctoral Program, Prof. Yudhy is committed to training graduates who can make a tangible impact on sustainable natural resource management – “from Bengkulu to the world.”
