Prof. Yuwana: Doctoral Program PSDA Lecturer Leading Agricultural Innovation at UNIB

Prof. Dr. Ir. Yuwana, M.Sc., is a prominent professor at the Doctoral Program of Natural Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB). Born on December 10, 1959, in Sleman, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Master’s from Massey University, New Zealand, and Doctorate from Université-Aix-Marseille II, France, specializing in agricultural engineering and solid mechanics of agricultural products.
With extensive experience in teaching, research, and community service, Prof. Yuwana has guided 25 graduate students and developed innovative courses in biomass management, renewable energy, agroindustry, and agricultural processing. His research focuses on sustainable drying technologies, including hybrid solar-biomass dryers for coffee and other agricultural products, resulting in numerous publications in international journals.
In 2023, he secured three patents for energy-efficient drying technologies: a solar dryer shaped as a stilt house with double wings, a hybrid solar and fuel combustion dryer for coffee, and a dryer using exhaust heat from biomass furnaces. Beyond research, Prof. Yuwana actively contributes to community empowerment, introducing practical agricultural technologies and training local farmers, particularly women’s cooperatives. His dedication has earned him recognition as the Best Innovation Researcher at UNIB in 2021, reflecting his pivotal role in advancing sustainable agriculture in Indonesia.
