UNIB AGRIBUSINESS STUDY PROGRAM DEVELOPES VILLAGES : KRPL HOUSEHOLD FOOD SECURITY SOLUTION

Food is a basic human need whose fulfillment is guaranteed by the government, both in quantity and quality as regulated by Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning Food. Article 60 of Law No. 18/2012 mandates that the Government and Regional Governments are obliged to realize the diversification of food consumption to meet the nutritional needs of the community in accordance with local potential and wisdom in order to realize a healthy, active, and productive life. The elaboration of the Food Law has been issued in Government Regulation Number 17 of 2015 concerning Food Security and Nutrition where in Article 26 it is stated that efforts to diversify food are carried out through the utilization of yard land.
As one of the largest higher education institutions in Bengkulu Province, Bengkulu University feels responsible for assisting the government in making its programs a success. The Sustainable Food Home Area (KRPL) program is the most appropriate program to be implemented in rural areas. One of the villages chosen as a pilot project is Durian Demang Village, Karang Tinggi District, Central Bengkulu Regency.

As a form of devotion, lecturers of the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu conducted counseling activities on the use of yard land to strengthen the economy of village communities. The method used was counseling carried out in the rice field area in the local village. This aims to get closer to the target community. The event was held on September 25, 2024. In the event, the Unib Agribusiness Service Team consisting of Mr. Agung Trisusilo, SP., MP. And Ir. Bambang Sumantri, MS. Accompanied by Mr. Arie Farizal, SP., as the Head of BPP Karang Tinggi. On this occasion, the delivery of the material was carried out by Mr. Agung Trisusilo, SP., MP.
Participants who attended the event were members of the Durian Demang Village farmer group. All participants listened to all the materials provided by the speakers. They were very enthusiastic about participating in this event, which was shown by the many questions submitted during the question and answer session.
