BENGKULU — The big family of the Fishery Science Study Program (Program Studi Sains Perikanan) at Universitas Bengkulu is filled with pride as they celebrate a new academic achievement from one of their esteemed faculty members.

Warmest congratulations and best wishes are extended to Dr. Dewi Purnama, S.Pi., M.Si. for successfully earning her Doctoral Degree (Doktor) in Marine Science (Ilmu Kelautan) from the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), IPB University.

Research on Microplastics in Enggano Island

Dr. Dewi successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in an open examination (Sidang Promosi Terbuka). Her impactful research focused on a highly critical environmental issue, titled:

“Distribusi Makro dan Mikroplastik pada Penyu dan Habitatnya di Lingkungan Pesisir Pulau Enggano, Provinsi Bengkulu” (Macro and Microplastic Distribution on Sea Turtles and Their Habitats in the Coastal Environment of Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province).

This study brings invaluable insights into marine conservation and coastal environmental management, particularly regarding the preservation of endangered sea turtles and protection of remote coastal areas in Bengkulu from plastic pollution.

With her advanced expertise in Marine Science and environmental research, Dr. Dewi’s achievement is a significant milestone that adds substantial value to the academic quality of the Fishery Science Study Program at Universitas Bengkulu.
