BENGKULU – On Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Marine Science and Fisheries Science Study Programs successfully delivered a joint presentation before the Senate of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. The presentation was held to deliberate on the proposed establishment of a dedicated Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries within the faculty.

Following a thorough review during the meeting, the Faculty of Agriculture Senate officially granted its approval for the formation of the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. As an immediate next step, the Faculty Senate will issue a formal recommendation to the University Senate of the University of Bengkulu to advance the discussion to the university level.

Moving forward, a subsequent presentation will be scheduled before the University Senate to secure institutional approval for the official opening of the department, with the timeline to be finalized by the University Senate.

This collaborative effort marks a monumental milestone in strengthening institutional capacity and accelerating academic and scientific advancement in the fields of marine and fisheries sciences at the University of Bengkulu.
