Simple Bookkeeping Counselling for UMKM Kare-Kare Ubi in Curup City, Rejang Lebong Regency

Self-devotion activities conducted simultaneously with the practical activities of students in the course of Agricultural Business Management of Food Crops and Horticulture. This activity involves the entire self-devotion team, Kare-Kare Ubi SME actors, and the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs. The location of the self-devotion activity is situated in SMEs around the Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency. The distance between the location of the self-devotion and Bengkulu University is approximately 82 KM. We arrived at the location around 08:30 AM. The devotion started by participating in the opening ceremony of the practical activity at DEKRANASDA Building, located at Jalan Merdeka No. 51 Pasar Baru, Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu.

After a series of opening activities, including the opening remarks by the MC, recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, singing the Indonesian national anthem, the event continued with speeches from the Course Coordinator of Agricultural Business Management of Food Crops and Horticulture, the head of the self-devotion implementation, and the head of the agribusiness program laboratory. The speeches concluded with the Chairman of BPC HIPMI, represented by the Head of the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs, Dra. Upik Zumratul Aini, M.Sc. She also officially opened the event. The morning session concluded with a group photo.

The activity continued with a journey to the UMKM location. The targeted UMKM is UMKM Kare-kare UBI, located at Jalan Pembangunan RT.15 RW.03, Air Putih Lama Village, Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency. We, representing the Agribusiness study program, Mr. Mustopa, Prof. Ketut, and Mr. Hariz, provided counseling and had casual discussions about simple bookkeeping for the UMKM. UMKM Kare-kare UBI is a home-based business that processes food crops and horticultural products. The sales of Kare-kare Ubi are done through distributors, so they do not require a good place or display case. This business model needs to focus more on approaching distributors. Some sales are made through pre-orders. The stock availability of Kare-kare UBI products at the visited location is not abundant, only around 50-60 packages. UMKM Kare-kare UBI already has financial records, but they are limited to sales records and are not neatly and systematically recorded. We also provided a pocketbook and sheets for simple financial recording, which we hope will facilitate Ms. Sukiwati in recording every transaction, both income and expenses. The pocketbook contains explanations about UMKM and simple financial recording.

>After conducting the counselling session according to the run-down, we proceeded with a product analysis of the UMKM. One of the products we analysed was the UMKM owned by Ibu Basida, which operates in the spice industry. After the product analysis, we returned to the HIPMI secretariat to conclude the event and made our way back to Bengkulu.
