Lecturer of Agricultural Technology Department Provides Education on the Utilization of Waste from Coffee to Produce Superior Processed Products in Babakan Village Bogor, Kepahiang

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Babakan Village, Bogor, Kabawetan District, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu Province, socialization and education activities on the use of coffee waste into several processed products that are useful for the village were carried out by lecturers of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. This activity was attended by residents of Babakan Bogor village who mostly work as coffee farmers.

Some of the socialization topics and materials presented were making kombucha from coffee skins, utilizing coffee leaves into herbal tea bags, utilizing coffee skins into cascara tea, making organic compost and liquid organic fertilizer from coffee skins, processing briquettes from coffee waste, and utilizing coffee grounds into several commercial non-food products.

The activity was opened directly by the village of Babakan Bogor and continued with the delivery of material from lecturers of the Department of Agricultural Technology in turn. Not only delivering material but also carried out some simple manufacturing practices, some examples of products from coffee waste.

This activity was closed by handing over organic compost that had been made to the village which was represented directly by the village and documentation of the activity, namely photos with villagers and lecturers of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu.
