History

The Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) was established on April 24, 1982. The Faculty of Agriculture operates based on the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0218/0/82 dated June 22, 1982. From its establishment until 1992, Faperta only had one department, the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, with one study program, Agronomy, with an undergraduate education level. During the four decades of Faperta Unib, history has noted a close relationship between the implementation of agricultural higher education and the development of agricultural development, both at the local (Bengkulu Province) and regional (Sumatra) and National levels.

Study Program Soil Science (SSSP) is open based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 2055/D2/1995 on July 2, 1995. Acceptance of new students was first implemented in September 1998. Structure organization of SSSP refers to the structure organization Faperta – UNIB. SSSP has not accepted new student students since merging Agronomy, Soil Science, and IHPT Study Programs into Agrotechnology Study Programs in 2009 (Standard 3). Policy the cause SSSP students in 2008 joined to study program new that. Students under the Class of 2008 are still completing their undergraduate program at SSSP. Besides serving SSSP students, study programs also serve Study Program students in Agrotechnology that take an interest in Soil Science. To create an atmosphere of academics, then various necessary infrastructures have available in the department, faculty, and university. Management and utilization of whole facilities and infrastructure the use system shared utilization (resource sharing) is not quite enough to answer SSSP, Department of Cultivation Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, and University of Bengkulu. However, in 2005, SSSP was again awarded permission to accept new students based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia, number 610/E/0/2014. In its implementation, the SSSP is assisted by implementing elements at the department level, such as commissions, Quality Control Groups (GKM), Extracurricular Activities Units, and Business Development Units. The current number of permanent lecturers in the SSSP is 19, one education laboratory employee, and one honorary worker.

Vision

The vision of the SSSP is “To be a Superior Soil Science Study Program at the ASEAN level in the Field of Land Restoration by 2025 in Supporting Sustainable Regional Development”. The vision is translated into five missions concerning study program governance, education, research, community service, and stakeholder collaboration. The implementation of the Vision and Mission will be divided into three periods, namely the 2014-2017 period to become an excellent institution at the Sumatran level, the 2018-2021 period to excel at the national level, and the 2022-2025 period to excel at the international level.

Mission

The missions of the SSSP itself include:

  1. Develop healthy and clean management of the SSSP.
  2. Organizing Education and Research that has advantages in the field of land restoration in supporting sustainable regional development.
  3. Promote science and technology in the field of land restoration to develop sustainable areas.
  4. Empowering the community through Community Service programs following the potential of sustainable areas; and
  5. Develop cooperation with stakeholders in the field of sustainable agriculture.
    Objectives

The objectives of the SSSP itself include:

  1. Produce graduates with international competitiveness.
  2. Conducting quality research in tropical agriculture and coastal ecosystem management.
  3. Provide community services to local, national, and international needs.
  4. Expanding the network of national and international cooperation; and
  5. Organizing the institution’s management by the rules of good civil service.
