Today, a historic discussion occurred between the BIROCAN of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), BPDAS Ketahun, and lecturers from the Forestry Department of University of Bengkulu. This discussion aims to formulate synergistic cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the University of Bengkulu, especially in education, research, training, and community service.

The scope of cooperation discussed includes:

Research Education and Community Service: One of the main focuses of the discussion is the development of education, research, and community service programs that can positively impact the environment and sustainability of natural resources. Concrete steps to integrate this activity into the curriculum and campus activities have become a hot topic of discussion.

Strengthening Research and Scientific Publications: The discussion team agreed to increase support for quality research relevant to environmental sustainability needs. Efforts to encourage better scientific publications have become the main focus.

Human Resource Development: The essential role of producing quality human resources in forestry and environmental science is also a concern. This discussion emphasized the need for skills and knowledge development programs that align with the times’ demands.

Implementation of the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program: In line with the government’s initiative in the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka program, this discussion explores how Bengkulu University can implement this program with a focus on the fields of forestry and environmental science.

Implementation of Forest and Land Rehabilitation: Cooperation in forest and land rehabilitation efforts is integral to this discussion. Concrete steps to optimize participation and joint contributions in forest and land conservation efforts are discussed.

Development of Environmental Science Laboratory: Discussions regarding developing environmental science laboratory facilities were also considered. This facility can become a research and development center that responds to increasingly complex environmental challenges.
