KWU HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB compost-making training
Bengkulu: On March 27, 2024, the Management of HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB, implemented in field 6 KWU, conducted training activities on making compost fertilizer. In this activity, we processed vegetable waste and mushroom growing media (baglog) as the main ingredients for making compost. This event occurred at the Alumni Donation Building (GSA), which HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB members attended.
This activity aims to be a medium for HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB members to learn about entrepreneurship. Apart from that, this activity is also a lesson in utilizing waste, which is usually thrown away and has no use value and pollutes the environment, which can be processed into something useful and has selling value. After this activity, it is hoped that HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB members will be able to know the entire process of making compost fertilizer and its distribution.
This activity took place in GSA. First, the head of field 6 KWU gave an opening and overview of the activities that field six will carry out for the 2024 HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB management period. Then continued with training on making compost fertilizer delivered by the speaker, namely Bang Abeng, where the material was the head of field 6 KWU in the 2022 management period.
This compost-making training begins with the speaker explaining what materials can be used to make compost fertilizer. This training uses vegetable waste, mushroom media waste (blocks), livestock manure, EM4, and sugar as bacteria generators and water. This entire series of activities took place and was attended by HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB members, from cutting vegetable waste, collecting waste, mixing all materials and storing compost. Members of Field 6 have prepared the materials and tools for this activity.
Then, at the end of this activity, there was a question and answer session from members to the presenters regarding the entire series of compost making, the benefits of compost and its distribution. In this session, the KWU department explained the aim of providing compost-making training to equip HIMA Sylva PCSI UNIB members to become entrepreneurs during their studies or after graduating.
