The Department of Agricultural Technology UNIB Holds Socialization of Halal and HACCP Certification for MSMEs and SPPG

The Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu in collaboration with LPH Almahyra and LPK ILMIORA held a Socialization ofHalal and HACCP Certification on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 08.00–12.00 WIB at the Integrated Service Building of the University of Bengkulu. This activity aims to increase the understanding of business actors and academics about the importance of halal assurance and food safety as part of improving product quality and the competitiveness of the food industry.

The activity began with a speech and a report on the implementation of activities from the Head of the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, Dr. Yessy Rosalina, S.TP., M.Si. In his remarks, he conveyed the importance of increasing understanding of halal certification and food safety, especially for food MSME actors and nutritious food program organizers, in order to be able to produce products that are safe, quality, and highly competitive. Furthermore, the activity was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suharyanto, S.Pt., M.Si. In his remarks, he appreciated the implementation of collaborative activities between universities and professional institutions in supporting the strengthening of the capacity of food business actors and the implementation of the halal assurance system and food safety in Bengkulu Province.

This activity was attended by 75 participants from various food MSMEs, Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), students, and lecturers from the Department of Agricultural Technology. Participants who attended included MSMEs A Chicken, MSMEs Dodol Ketan SKN, MSMEs A-My Frozen Zone, MSMEs Al Waqiah Frozen, MSMEs Cichips Factory, MSMEs INKA Food & Sweeties, MSMEs Kopi Dangau Datuk, MSMEs Bakso Riko Rezeki, MSMEs Baytat Annisa, MSMEs Vio Pump Sticks, MSMEs Kopi Bukit Barisan, SPPG Air Padang North Bengkulu, SPPG Bengkulu City, SPPG Kepahiang, and SPPG Seluma.

The first material was delivered by Tati Maryati, S.Si., M.M., CEO OF LPH Almahyra as well as a Halal Auditor and halal business consultant. He is the best graduate of the Master of Business of IPB University and is active as a trainer and consultant in the field of halal product assurance system, HACCP, ISO 22000, and food business development. In his presentation on the Halal Certification Process, he explained the stages of applying for halal certification, fulfilling supporting documents, implementing the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), and the halal audit process for food business actors.

The second material was delivered by Ika Gusriani, S.TP., M.P., a lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Technology, University of Bengkulu and Halal Auditor of LPH Almahyra. He has expertise in the fields of food safety, GMP, HACCP, and halal product assurance systems. In the session entitled Simple Approach to Food Safety Assurance Based on HACCP, he explained the simple approach to implementing HACCP in the MSME-scale food industry, including the identification of food hazards, control of critical points, and the importance of sanitation in the safe food production process.

Meanwhile, the third material was delivered by Dr. Zulman Efendi, S.TP., M.Sc., a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu who has expertise in the fields of food technology, food antioxidants, and nanoencapsulation-based food safety. He is also active as an expert in the field of food and nutrition in Bengkulu Province. In the material on Food Safety in the MBG Program, he emphasized the importance of implementing food safety standards in the provision of nutritious food to ensure the quality, safety, and health of food consumed by the public.

The activity took place with high enthusiasm from the participants. This can be seen from the active discussion and question and answer sessions between participants and resource persons, especially related to halal certification procedures, the application of HACCP to MSMEs, and food safety management in the provision of nutritious food. The participants also shared their experiences and challenges faced in the development of food businesses so that the discussion took place interactive and applicable.

Through this activity, the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu shows its commitment to supporting the development of a safe, healthy, and competitive food industry through education, mentoring, and collaboration activities with various professional and industry institutions. The Department of Agricultural Technology UNIB also has advantages in the development of food science and technology, food safety, processing of agricultural products, and empowerment of MSMEs based on innovation and community needs.
