The Forestry Department of FP UNIB has succeeded in adding 1 new undergraduate program: the environmental science study program.

Bengkulu, December 6 2023. The University of Bengkulu, through the Department of Forestry, FP UNIB, has added 1 (one) new study program at the Faculty of Agriculture, the Undergraduate (S1) Environmental Science Study Program. This new study program will begin accepting students through all UNIB new student admission scheme in the odd semester of 2024.

Yansen, Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Academic Affairs) FP UNIB, said: “The minister’s decision has been issued. “That means the Environmental Science Bachelor’s study program has officially opened and will be included in new student admissions in 2024 through all existing admission routes: SNBP, SNBT, and SMMPTN,”

The decree on the establishment of the environmental science study program was based on a letter from Plt. Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Culture dated 6 December 2023 concerning Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 882/E/O/2023 concerning Permits to Open the Environmental Science Study Program Undergraduate Program at Bengkulu University in Bengkulu City Date 1 December 2023.

The academic vision of the Environmental Science Undergraduate Study Program is related and compatible with the vision of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Vision of the University of Bengkulu. The vision was also built by taking the research master plan, which states that the coastal areas and tropical forests are the main research for the University of Bengkulu, which is coordinated by the UNIB Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) 2020-2025. The vision of the Undergraduate Environmental Science Study Program, Department of Forestry, FP UNIB, is to build an academic process so that the study program can be academically recognized in Sumatra by 2030 in the field of environmental science related to sustainable management of tropical and coastal areas.

Currently, the Forestry Department has 2 study programs: the forestry study program and the environmental science study program. Prof. Agus Susatya will lead this Environmental Science study program, and the lecturers/researchers in the Forestry Department are committed to supporting the development of this program and providing a high-quality educational experience for students.
