II. Laboratory Overview |
Soil Science Laboratory is one of the laboratories under the Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University. Soil Science Laboratory has been established since 1986, which is located in Building H, Bengkulu University Complex. Soil Science Laboratory was established to support Study Programs within the Faculty of Agriculture, especially the Soil Science Study Program.
VISION
To become a laboratory that has excellence in the fields of education, research, community service and services in order to produce graduates who are proactive, innovative and professional in the field of soil science based on technological developments and religious morals.
MISSION
- Organizing education (laboratory and field practicum) to produce graduates as members of the community who have academic abilities, skills, innovation, and competence in applying and developing soil science.
- Doing community service by serving research and testing both from institutions and stakeholders
- Prepare human resources capable of conducting laboratory analysis
GOALS
1.Carry out practicum in order to support activities student learning and research
2. Carry out research activities and community service for the entire academic community, stakeholders and the community.
Soil Science Laboratory Organizational Structure |
The control of the management of the Soil Science laboratory is held by the Head of the Laboratory with a term of office for a period of 2 years. The selection of the Head of the Laboratory is carried out through deliberation by the lecturer of the Soil Science Study Program. Furthermore, the results of the election are proposed to the Dean to be forwarded to the Rectorto make a Decree of the Rectorr of the University of Bengkulu. During the last 20 years the leadership of the Soil Science Laboratory has been led by 8 (eight) lecturers. The list of Heads of Soil Science Laboratories can be seen in Table 1.

The implementation of the activities of the Soil Science Laboratory is coordinated by the Head of the Laboratory who is assisted by one Pranata Laboratorium Pendidikan (PLP) and one Laboratory technician. The organizational structure of the Science Laboratory for the period 2022-2023 is presented in Figure 1 below.
Service
The services provided by the Soil Science Laboratory are divided into 2 types, namely practicum services and analysis.. Practical services are provided to students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University. Several study programs that carry out practicum in the Soil Science Lab include S1 Soil Science, S1 Agroecotechnology, S1 Agribusiness, S1 Plant Protection, S2 Agroecotechnology and Magister Natural and Environmental Resources Management. Practical activities are carried out both in the Even semester and Odd semester. The list of practical courses in the Soil Science Laboratory is presented in Table 2.

In addition to practicum, other services provided by the Laboratory of Soil Science are analysis of samples, both soil samples, organic fertilizers and tissue. So far, many users have used sample analysis services at the Soil Science Laboratory, both from students and lecturers from Bengkulu University itself and from other universities in Bengkulu Province and outside Bengkulu Province. In addition, other users who often use sample testing services at the Soil Science Laboratory include consultants, PT Sawit, PT Tambang Batubara and other private users both from Bengkulu Province and outside Bengkulu Province. Even large PT Tambang Batubara such as PT Bukit Asam which is outside Bengkulu Province often use sample analysis services at the Soil Science Laboratory. This is because the Soil Science Laboratory is committed to completing sample tests accurately and quickly. Standard analysis completion time is around 2-3 weeks. The list of sample test parameters that can be carried out at the Soil Science Laboratory can be seen in Table 3.
