GENERAL LECTURE  IN MAGISTER IN NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

On June 10 2023, the Magister  in  Natural Resource Management (MNR) held a General Lecture with Dr. Esc. (Certf.) Bursamin, M. Ling. from PT Bukit Angkasa Makmur as speaker. The speaker were selected from among practitioners to enrich the insights of MNR students. It is hoped that students will be able to compare the theory given by lecturers with practice in the world of work, especially in relation to waste-based waste management in the rubber industry.

Introduction to the Head of the MNR Study Program

Thank God, today we are all present in the framework of the general lecture of MNR. This general lecture is routinely held every year at least 2x. In today’s general lecture, there is something special. If the general lectures in previous years presented speakers from outside Bengkulu Province, this time the speakers were alumni of the MNR and as Quality Assurance Engineers at PT Bukit Angkasa Makmur (BAM), Central Bengkulu. The last non-formal education is Certified Doctor of Environmental Science (Dr. Esc) in 2022. He has been working as an Internal Auditor Leader Professional for the Industrial Sector for more than 15 years, and also for more than 15 years working as a Quality Assurance Engineer for the Industrial Sector, Bengkulu. His knowledge and experience in the world of practice (company) especially in the management of rubber waste is very important for MNR students to add insight into waste management in companies. The title of this General Lecture is Industrial Management Systems and Technology-Based Waste Management. On other occasions, the MNR Insyaa Allaah will continue to involve alumni as resource persons for General Lectures, giving lectures, promotional activities, or other activities. On behalf of the MNR, I would like to thank the alumni who are always enthusiastic in helping the MNR to continue and develop. Currently the MNRis accredited “very good”, and is waiting for information on the results of Acquin’s international accreditation. I request alumni, students and lecturers to continue promoting the MNR to stakeholders both in terms of studying at MNR and in collaboration.

General Lecture Summary

The general lecture on 10 June 2023 is entitled Industrial Management Systems and Technology-Based Waste Management with the subtitle Integrated Management Systems SNI ISO 14001:2015 and 9001:2015 on Environmental Management. The purpose of this material is to provide technical knowledge as follows: 1) Interpretation of requirements and standardization, and 2) Understanding of an integrated system of quality control and waste management. The resource person specifically discussed ISO 14001: 2015. The basic principle of this ISO is sustainable development with a balancing act, namely meeting current needs without compromising the future. There are three pillars that are discussed, namely the integrated environment, social responsibility and economic growth. These three pillars must be integrated with each other. In this case, business goals are achieved as well as environmental goals are achieved and the welfare of the surrounding community is also linear with the achievement of business and environmental goals. The resource person also explained the requirements for ISO 14001, and how the company, in this case PT BAM, implements ISO 14001. Currently, PT BAM manages rubber waste by recycling, namely using the liquid waste produced for later reuse. In this way, no liquid waste enters the river. This is intended so that the liquid waste does not pollute the river. Many discussions and information are described, so that students’ and even lecturers’ insights increase, especially regarding real practices regarding waste management at PT BAM in particular, and in other similar industries. “In the future, the MNR will invite practitioners to give public lectures and if possible can teach at the MNR,” said the Head of the MNR Study Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Urip Santoso, S.I.Kom., M.Sc.
