HOW IMPORTANT IS A GRAIN OF RICE FOR LIFE

How many people leave food behind every time they eat. We can see it at parties, in restaurants, even at the dinner table at home. Did you know that one grain of rice that you throw away is very valuable to other people? How many people are hungry every day. How many people work hard to get a plate of rice for one family.

Let’s calculate how much one grain of rice/rice that you throw away every day is worth. The population of Indonesia in 2023 will be 278,700,000 people. If the average Indonesian population leaves one grain of rice per day, there will be 278,700,000 rice left over. One gram contains +50 grains of rice, so there are 5,574,000 grams or 5.5 tons of rice wasted every day in Indonesia. If the price of 1 kg of rice is IDR 10,000, then the rice wasted is IDR 55,740,000 per day.

If a family consists of 5 members and eats 3 times a day, and each meal leaves 6 grains of rice, then 30 grains of rice are wasted per day or 10,950 grains of rice or 219 grams per year. If the price of rice is IDR 10,000, then the rice thrown away by the family costs IDR 2,190 per year. Maybe this rupiah value is not valuable to you. However, remember that this amount of rupiah is very valuable for other people who need it. Therefore, I invite myself and all readers not to leave food behind when we eat.
