
Departure Ceremony for Marine Science Students’ Field Trip to Malaysia, June 24-30, 2024
On June 24, 2024, a departure ceremony was held for Marine Science students from Bengkulu University who will participate in a field trip to Malaysia. The event took place in front of the Marine Science Department building and was attended by the participants, lecturers, and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The opening ceremony started at 09:00 AM with a speech from the Head of the Committee, Made Aditya. In his speech, Made Aditya expressed his gratitude for the support from the lecturers and fellow students, which made the field trip to Malaysia possible.
Next, the Coordinator of the Internship Course, Dr. Yar Johan, who also acted as the person in charge of the event, gave a speech. Dr. Yar Johan expressed his hope that the trip would go smoothly and that the students would be able to maximize their learning at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He also reminded everyone to pay attention to their health and to maintain teamwork throughout the trip. In his closing remarks, Dr. Yar Johan hoped that this activity would broaden the students’ horizons about marine science at other universities abroad and encourage them to engage in research or internships at Malaysian universities such as UTM, as the Marine Science Department already has an MoU/collaboration with UTM.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, in his closing speech, appreciated the early implementation of the field trip compared to previous activities. He hoped that this activity would encourage students to graduate on time, with the faculty’s target being a minimum of 30% of students graduating on time. He also advised that this field trip should be a valuable learning experience and encourage students to pursue further studies abroad, which is a goal of the Faculty of Agriculture with an increasing number of students studying abroad each year.
On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture officially sent off the students for their field trip to Malaysia with the group and concluded the morning ceremony.
