Socialization of Potential Seaweed for the Students of Enggano Island

Enggano Island, which is one of the outermost islands in the west of Bengkulu Province, has a seaweed potential. However, the potential of seaweed has not been utilized optimally due to limited knowledge and access to information regarding seaweed. This condition encouraged the lecturers from the Marine Science Study Program at Bengkulu University to conduct outreach regarding the benefits of seaweed as a provider of nutrition for the community. This is an initial step to provide knowledge to the community, especially the younger generation who will inherit the marine resources on Enggano Island. This activity was carried out in March 2024 using direct counseling methods for elementary school students of Enggano Island. After being given counseling, students on Enggano Island learned about the various benefits of seaweed for health, humans and the social economy of the community.
