Marine Science UNIB Lecturers Join BNSP Competency Certification
In addition to preparing students through professional competency certification, the Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University, also actively contributes to strengthening the quality of its lecturers. As part of this commitment, three lecturers from the Marine Science Study Program took part in the Professional Competency Certification (Serkom) organized by the Professional Certification Institute of Bengkulu University (LSP UNIB), accredited by the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP).
From the program, two lecturers (Syarifudin Nur and Anggini Fuji Astuti) participated in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Consultant scheme, while one lecturer joined the Entrepreneurship (KWU) scheme (Lita Astini). This initiative demonstrates the study program’s efforts to ensure its teaching staff possess professional skills and certifications that align with industry standards and the evolving demands of the workforce.

“Through this certification, our lecturers are not only enhancing their professional qualifications but also setting an example for students. We want to show that continuous development and certification are important steps to remain competitive and relevant,” said Mukti Dono Wilopo, Head of LSP UNIB and lecturer at the Marine Science Study Program.
The certification activities are part of a wider program conducted by LSP UNIB in collaboration with accredited professional training and certification institutions. In 2024, LSP UNIB successfully facilitated training and competency tests for both lecturers and 950 final-semester students from eight faculties across Bengkulu University.
By participating in this initiative, the Marine Science Study Program ensures that its academic community—both lecturers and students—are equally equipped with competencies that strengthen their roles in academia, industry, and society.
