TOEFL Training for FP UNIB Students

TOEFL Training for FP UNIB Students

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (FP UNIB) has launched a TOEFL training program aimed at improving students’ English skills. The opening of this training event was held on December 14, 2024, in the FP dean’s meeting room, which was attended by Vice Dean III (Dr. Hesti Pujiwati)) along with the faculty staff. In her remarks, Vice Dean III emphasized the importance of English skills, especially in facing the challenges of globalization and increasing the competitiveness of graduates in the job market.

A total of 40 students were selected as training participants, who were representatives from each study program at the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as members of the Student Representative Council (DPM), Student Executive Board (BEM), and Student Association (Hima). The selection of participants was carried out to ensure that each study program got representatives who were able to disseminate the knowledge and skills acquired to fellow students.

This training is designed in 24 meetings; each session will focus on three main aspects of the TOEFL test, namely reading, writing, and listening. The training materials are carefully designed to provide in-depth understanding and effective strategies in dealing with each type of question that appears in the TOEFL test. Thus, participants are expected to be able to improve their English skills significantly. The training instructors consist of experienced academics who have a strong background in teaching English, namely:
• Dr. Nurmeliasari, S.Pt. M.Sc
• Ejontomi Afrizon, M.Pd
• Sr Rahayu Putri, M.Pd

This TOEFL training is a strategic step by the faculty to help students face challenges in completing their studies. Currently, a number of students are experiencing obstacles in the graduation process because their TOEFL scores still need to be below 400, the minimum required for graduation from the S1 program. With this training, students can prepare themselves well and achieve adequate scores so as not to be hampered in their graduation process.

FP UNIB is committed not only to improving students’ TOEFL scores but also to equipping them with the English skills needed in the professional world. The faculty hopes that all participants can benefit the most from this training and be able to contribute better in the academic environment and the world of work after graduation. In closing the opening ceremony, WD3 expressed his hope that all participants can follow the training with high enthusiasm and dedication and make the most of this opportunity. This training will be a good first step for FP UNIB students to achieve success in their careers and education in the future.
