Faculty of Agriculture Organizes HIMA ORMAWA Mentorship Workshop

Bengkulu, December 17, 2024 – The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bengkulu held a workshop on the development of Hima Ormawa on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Faculty of Agriculture Hall. From 10:00 to 12:30 WIB, the event aimed to provide guidance and stimulation to achieve the Faculty’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU) by enhancing student activities, achievements, and programs.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Indra Cahyadinata, opened the event. In his remarks, he expressed his hopes that this activity could catalyze the advancement of student activities in terms of achievements and flagship programs. “Through the direction and guidance of HIMA mentors, we hope students can become more productive and active in achieving accomplishments that contribute to the Faculty’s IKU targets,” said Dr. Indra.

Dissemination of Rector Regulations and 2025 Activity Plans

The main session presented material by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hesti Pujiwati, S.P., M.Si. The topics discussed included the dissemination of legal foundations from the Rector’s regulations, namely:

  • Rector’s Regulation No. 3 of 2023 on Student Code of Ethics,
  • Rector’s Regulation No. 3 of 2023 on Governance of Student Organizations and Activities,
  • Rector’s Regulation No. 7 of 2024 on the Basic Rules of the University of Bengkulu’s Student Family.

In her presentation, Dr. Hesti also emphasized the importance of documenting student organization activities at the faculty level, such as BEM, DPM, HIMA, and ORMAWA. These activities will be regularly published on the Faculty of Agriculture website.

Dr. Hesti then outlined the 2025 student activity plans for the Faculty of Agriculture, including:

  1. Inauguration of BEM, DPM, HIMA, and ORMAWA leaders and management in January 2025,
  2. Preparation of annual activity programs by HIMA leaders with supervision from Study Program Heads or Advisory Boards,
  3. Budget allocation for HIMA ORMAWA routine activities, financial assistance for students participating in national and international competitions, faculty scholarships, English courses, thesis competitions, leadership camps, PKM proposal workshops, and student achievement recognition.

IKU Achievements and Challenges in 2024

During her presentation, Dr. Hesti also revealed the achievements of student activities under the IKU targets throughout 2024. These achievements include graduates securing employment, competency certifications, student achievements at regional, national, and international levels, and contributions from faculty mentors to student activities.

However, she also highlighted the challenges faced, particularly the fact that most achievements are still within the scope of the University of Bengkulu. In contrast, achievements counted in the IKU are those from competitions organized outside UNIB. Nevertheless, this data can still be used for Internal Quality Audits (AMI) and program study accreditations.

“These three Rector’s regulations are essential foundations in creating a harmonious, structured, and conducive campus environment for student development. With this synergy, the University of Bengkulu is committed to creating an ecosystem that supports its vision of becoming an excellent and competitive higher education institution,” emphasized Dr. Hesti.

Discussion and Closing

The workshop continued with a question-and-answer session, addressing various issues related to encouraging student achievements, including financial support for competitions outside the city. Participants also discussed HIMA management with targets aligned with IKU and the development of students’ leadership soft skills.

During the discussion, aspirations regarding a more participatory selection process for HIMA Advisory Boards were also raised, with proposals for student aspirations to be conveyed through study programs or department forums.

The workshop concluded with a smooth and enthusiastic discussion session. This event is expected to serve as the first step in maximizing the potential of student organizations at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu.
