7 Students of The Faculty of Agriculture of UNIB Win Silver Award at IUCA 2024

Another proud achievement was made by students of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu (UNIB). Seven Faculty of Agriculture (FP UNIB) students won the Silver Award at the 4th International Undergraduate Conference on Agriculture & Life Science (IUCA). In 2024, IUCA was held by Princess of Naradhiwas University, Thailand (December, 19). This event is an international scientific conference attended by students from various universities worldwide, especially those engaged in agriculture and life sciences. FP UNIB students appeared as presenters to present their best research to participants and judges. As a result, the seven students won the Silver Award, which shows their research’s academic quality and innovation.

The research conducted by these students raises various important issues related to biodiversity and agricultural ecosystems, especially in Bengkulu Province. Some of their research focuses on the biodiversity of insects, such as mealybugs (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae), which significantly impact plants. At the same time, other research highlights the coffee-based agroforestry system that supports the socio-economy of local communities and environmental conservation in the Bukit Daun landscape. These seven studies provide scientific contributions to agriculture and become potential solutions in sustainable natural resource management. The results of their research are also expected to be applied to support better agriculture at the local and global levels.

IUCA is an annual event that brings students from various countries together to present their research results in agriculture, environment, and life sciences. This year, IUCA was held virtually, involving experienced judges from various international institutions. The participation of FP UNIB students in IUCA 2023 is clear evidence that FP UNIB students can compete at the global level. This achievement also shows that Indonesian students have great potential to make scientific contributions that are recognized worldwide.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UNIB, Dr. Indra Cahyadinata, expressed his appreciation to the students for their hard work and dedication. He hopes that this achievement can inspire other students to continue to work and bring UNIB’s good name to the international arena. “We hope that other students are motivated to continue to conduct high-quality research that has a broad impact,” said the Dean of FP UNIB. With the enthusiasm and dedication shown, it is hoped that FP UNIB students can continue to achieve brilliant achievements in the future.

Congratulations to the seven FP UNIB students for their Silver Award achievements!
