Collaboration for the Determination of Regional Water Conservation Areas in Bengkulu Province

Determination of Marine Protected Areas is a Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries programme. It is a protected water area managed by a zoning system to realize sustainable management of fish resources and their environment. This program has been carried out for several years and has established several reserve zones throughout Indonesia. The reserve zone will be designated as a Water Conservation Area. The determination was made after the research and field survey by a team of experts.

The Bengkulu Province Marine and Fisheries Service as a representative of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in Bengkulu Province, embraced the University of Bengkulu Marine Science Study Programme for field observations of the determination of water conservation areas. One team of 5 lecturers became the representative of the Marine Science Study Program for the survey. The survey was carried out from mid to late August 2022. There are 3 (three) areas that are the location of the review. Muko-muko Regency, South Bengkulu Regency, and Enggano Island. The three areas had previously been reserved areas.

Field inspections are carried out to see changes in the area that is a reserved area and complete the data that becomes the material for the preparation of the final document on the determination of the conservation area.
