TRAINING ON COMPETITIVE PACKAGING FOR PROCESSED SALTED FISH PRODUCTS IN KAHYAPU VILLAGE, ENGGANO DISTRICT

The Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu has carried out community empowerment in Kahyapu Village, Enggano District, through community service activities with the theme “Training on Competitive Packaging for Salted Fish Processed Products.” The community service team chaired by Nur Lina Maratana Nabiu, S.Pi., M.Si, together with members Nurlaila Ervina Herliany, S.Pi., M.Si and Dr. Ali Muqsit, S.Kel., M.Si initiated training based on knowledge regarding the great potential of the salted fish business in the Kahyapu Village community.

Most of the people of Enggano Island make their living as fishermen whose catch is sold directly or processed into salted fish. Enggano Island’s processed salted fish products are popular among the people of Bengkulu. So, the community service team felt it was necessary to carry out training related to the packaging of processed salted fish products in Kahyapu Village so that the selling value of processed salted fish products could increase. Apart from that, with better and safer packaging, processed products’ quality and nutritional value will be maintained. The training activities that have been carried out will likely encourage the people of Enggano Island, especially Kahyapu Village, to be more innovative and motivated to increase the selling value of their processed products.
