SOCIALIZATION OF THE INTRODUCTION OF FRIENDLY FISHING TOOLS AT SDN 55 BENGKULU UTARA FORMING A MINDSET FOR PROTECTING THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT FROM AN EARLY TIME

In order to continue the development of the villages assisted by the Marine Science Study Program in Kahyapu Village, Enggano Island, the service team of lecturers from the Marine Science Study Program carried out outreach services on the early introduction of environmentally friendly fishing gear at SDN 55 Kahyapu Village, North Bengkulu.
The socialization was carried out for 1 day in May 2024. The material was presented in a light manner with the main theme of criteria for fishing technology having several important rules, namely: high selectivity, not endangering fishermen, not destructive to fishermen, quality production, the product does not harm consumers, minimum fish waste, no catch of protected or endangered species, minimum impact on biodiversity and socially acceptable.
The introduction of environmentally friendly fishing gear needs to be done from an early age to instill a good mindset for the fisheries ecosystem among the younger generation. Currently, the youth of Enggano Island only know about fishing gear without knowing in detail whether each type of fishing gear is environmentally friendly or not.
