
Public Consultation on the Proposal for the Establishment of a Marine Conservation Area in Kaur Regency
Jakarta, October 08, 2024 – On October 08, 2024, a Public Consultation was held regarding the proposal for establishing a marine conservation area in Kaur Regency, taking place at Gedung Mina Bahari IV, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. The event involved experts from the University of Bengkulu, namely Nella Tri Agustini, S.Kel., M.Si., a tropical marine ecology expert, and Mr. Akbar Abdurrahman, M.Si., a geographic information systems expert. These experts are assisting the Bengkulu Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office (DKP) in preparing the Kaur Marine Conservation Area (KKPD) document.
This Public Consultation was attended by staff from the Directorate of Marine Spatial Management (PRL) at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), who actively participated in providing input on the proposed conservation area. The event served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss various technical and social aspects that need to be considered in establishing the marine conservation area in Kaur Regency.
The event was opened with a speech by Ms. Cora Mustika, AP.i., M.Si., Sub-Coordinator of Human Resources for Apparatus at the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management, KKP. In her speech, Ms. Cora praised the efforts made in preparing the Kaur KKPD document. She emphasized the importance of public consultation to ensure the success of marine resource conservation in the region.
During the event, participants were allowed to ask questions and provide constructive feedback on the proposed conservation area plan. The event proceeded smoothly, with productive discussions on the steps that must be taken to ensure that the conservation area can support the sustainability of marine ecosystems and the welfare of local communities.
Through this event, it is hoped that a synergy between the related parties will be achieved in formulating policies that support the sustainability and conservation of coastal natural resources in the Kaur Regency.
