
Marine Science Hosts Dharma Wanita Event at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu
The Marine Science Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, held a Dharma Wanita event themed “Various Mackerel Meat Processing.” The speaker was Ir. Nurlina, M.Si., the wife of the Head of the Marine Science Program. The event was held in the Faculty of Agriculture Hall and attended by Dharma Wanita members, lecturers, and several student representatives on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The objective of this activity was to provide knowledge about the nutritional benefits of mackerel and simultaneously improve participants’ skills in processing it into various value-added food products. Some examples of processed foods practiced included otak-otak (fish cake), pempek (a type of fish cake made from fish), bakso (meatballs), and mackerel nuggets, which can be used for both home consumption and as a business opportunity in the culinary sector.
The event was a success and enthusiastically received by all participants. Through this training, Dharma Wanita members gained not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience in processing mackerel into healthy and nutritious products. The Marine Science Study Program hopes that this activity can strengthen bonds between members and encourage creativity in developing businesses based on marine products, as well as support community service in the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu area.
