
Marine Science Study Program Sends Student Representatives to Join BNSP Competency Certification
As part of its commitment to preparing graduates who are excellent, competitive, and able to secure decent jobs, the Professional Certification Institute of Bengkulu University (LSP UNIB), in collaboration with several accredited training and professional certification institutions, organized Competency Training and Certification Tests (Serkom) for 950 final-semester students.
“Every day, from morning until evening, we conduct Serkom training and examinations for 950 students who have completed their thesis defense and are preparing for graduation. Students are able to participate in nine certification schemes that we implement in cooperation with certification bodies accredited by BNSP,” explained Mukti Dono Wilopo, Head of LSP UNIB and lecturer at the Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University.

The 950 students came from eight faculties across UNIB, with each faculty registering 121 participants, including representatives from the Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture.
According to the UNIB Public Relations Team, the program was officially opened by the Rector of UNIB, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E., M.Sc., via Zoom on September 2, 2024. The opening ceremony was also attended virtually by the Vice Rector II for Resources, Yefriza, S.E., MPPM, Ph.D., as well as deans, heads of institutions, and leaders of other units within the university.
In her remarks, the Rector expressed appreciation and gratitude to the certification institutions that collaborated with LSP UNIB to ensure the success of the training and certification program.
“We hope this activity runs smoothly and achieves our shared goal: equipping students with industry-standard skills so that, upon graduation, they are more prepared to compete and do not face difficulties in finding decent employment,” she stated.
