Fish Culture For Food Security Pekik Nyaring Village, Pondok Kelapa District, Bengkulu Tengah Regency

The Community Service Activity entitled Fish Culture for Food Security in Pekik Nyaring Village, Pondok Kelapa District, Bengkulu Tengah Regency was carried out by the team of the Marine Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. This activity took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, attended by fish farmer groups and village officials. The Pekik Nyaring Village Government expressed its appreciation and support for this community service program because it can support village activities in developing freshwater fish cultivation to support the village food security program.

The community service socialization began with the presentation of material on freshwater fish culture to increase group knowledge about how to culture fish in village ponds. The material was delivered interactively by the community service team and interspersed with answers and questions. The community service team also visited the village ponds located on site. The village ponds are still traditional, consisting of earthen pools bordered by netting to divide them. During this activity, the fish farmers also learned about feeding and dosage, sampling fish in pond, and water quality. Participants appeared enthusiastic about participating in this activity because several participants had tried fish cultivation activities at home, allowing them to share experiences.
