UNIB Marine Science Lecturers Serve as Presenters at the 4th Bumi Rafflesia National Community Service Seminar 2025

Bengkulu – Lecturers from the Marine Science Study Program of the University of Bengkulu (Universitas Bengkulu/UNIB) reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of community service, by participating as presenters at the 4th Bumi Rafflesia National Seminar on Community Service (ABDIMAS Bumi Rafflesia IV) 2025.

The national seminar was organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the University of Bengkulu and was held on 8 November 2025 at the Ballroom of Hotel Santika, Bengkulu. The event served as a strategic forum for disseminating innovative community service programs and best practices from academics across Indonesia, with a strong emphasis on sustainable development.

The Marine Science lecturers from UNIB who participated as presenters were Maya Anggraini FU, S.Pi., M.Si., Ayub Sugara, S.Kel., M.Si., and Anggini Fuji Astuti, S.Pi., M.Si. They presented the outcomes of community service activities focusing on coastal areas, particularly on community empowerment, sustainable coastal and marine resource management, and the application of science and technology to support coastal livelihoods.

In their presentations, the lecturers highlighted the importance of technology utilization and digitalization in strengthening community service programs in coastal regions. The application of appropriate technologies, digital-based information systems, and data-driven approaches was emphasized as a key strategy to enhance program effectiveness, improve coastal community capacity, and support informed decision-making in coastal resource management.

Furthermore, the community service initiatives presented were closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 14 (Life Below Water). By integrating social, economic, environmental, and technological dimensions, these programs aim to deliver sustainable and long-term benefits foroastal communities.The participation of UNIB Marine Science lecturers in the ABDIMAS Bumi Rafflesia IV 2025 seminar not only facilitated the dissemination of community service outcomes but also reinforced the role of academia in supporting digital transformation and inclusive, sustainable coastal development. This engagement underscores the University of Bengkulu’s commitment to contributing to national and global development agendas through impactful, science-based community service initiatives.
