Marine Science Student of the University of Bengkulu Selected as a Fully Funded Participant in Youth Aquatic Camp 2025 in Karimunjawa

July-2025 The Marine Science Study Program of the University of Bengkulu extends its congratulations and appreciation to Arnold Willyarto, a Marine Science student from the Class of 2023, who has been selected as a fully funded participant of the Youth Aquatic Camp (YAC) 2025, part of the Indonesia Water Festival (Festival Air Indonesia).

The Indonesia Water Festival is a flagship program of the Department of Aquatic Resources Management, IPB University, which focuses on the conservation of Indonesia’s aquatic environments through socialization, education, and conservation-based approaches. The selection process was highly competitive, involving hundreds of participants from across Indonesia and consisting of several stages, including administrative screening, case study submission, and interviews. From this rigorous process, only three participants were selected to receive full funding, one of whom was Arnold Willyarto.

The Youth Aquatic Camp 2025 was held on 8–15 August 2025 in Kemujan Village, Karimunjawa, Central Java. Throughout the program, participants were actively involved in various activities organized into three divisions: Health, Education, and Ecotourism. In the Health Division, participants conducted basic medical check-ups for coastal communities. In the Education Division, participants delivered coastal ecosystem education to elementary school students using creative learning media. Meanwhile, in the Ecotourism Division, participants took part in mangrove tracking activities, coral reef transplantation using web spider media in collaboration with the Karimunjawa National Park Authority, and beach clean-up actions with local communities. This achievement is expected to inspire other Marine Science students of the University of Bengkulu to continue excelling and actively contributing to the conservation of Indonesia’s coastal and marine ecosystems. The Marine Science Study Program of the University of Bengkulu is proud of this accomplishment and remains committed to supporting students’ development and participation at the national level.
