FAPERTA news: Two researchers from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, will collaborate with researchers at world-class universities such as Universiti Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2023. Many forms of collaboration include cooperation in research data analysis, publication of research results, public lectures, student internships, student mobility, and completion of final student assignments. This activity received full support from the university through the Implementation Arrangement (IA) grant program from UPT KSLI UNIB. The researchers are Prof. DW Ganefianti, who researched Bengkulu endemic orchids, and Prof. Agustin Zarkani, who researched the diversity of mealybugs in Indonesia. Prof. DW Ganefianti, who is also the Dean of Faperta UNIB, said, “This activity is not only limited to achieving the IKU target, but this is a real activity to realize the University’s vision of becoming a world-class university (WCU) in 2025.” In line with what was conveyed by the dean, Prof. Agustin Zarkani said, “One of the follow-ups to this program is a sabbatical program which a researcher from UM will carry out, Dr. Nurul Ashikin at UNIB in early 2024, and this shows that our researchers can collaborate with researchers from “World-class universities such as UM and UPM,” he continued.
Meanwhile, two students were also involved in this program: Habib Al Ayubi R from the Plant Protection Study Program and Yosima Veronika from the Agroecotechnology Study Program. These students were selected to participate in the program with full financial support. Yosima expressed, “We not only observed the research and learning activities at this world-class campus but also felt that we possess the same potential as fellow students at these esteemed institutions.”
