Islamic New Year Study Session by Hikafaperta Syariah Cooperative Mitra Sejahtera Faperta UNIB: Enhancing Self-Quality on 1 Muharram 1446 H

On 1 Muharram 1446 H, the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bengkulu (UNIB) held a study session titled “Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1446 H as a Moment to Enhance Self-Quality According to the Quran and Hadith.” This event was organized by Hikafaperta Syariah Cooperative Mitra Sejahtera Faperta UNIB, aiming to strengthen the faith and piety of the academic community at UNIB.

The event began at 10:00 WIB with Prof. Agustin Zarkani acting as the Master of Ceremony (MC). The opening remarks were delivered by the Chairperson of Hikafaperta, Bu Guswarni Anwar, PhD, who emphasized the importance of using the Islamic New Year as a moment for introspection and self-improvement in accordance with Islamic teachings. This was followed by a speech from the Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture UNIB, Bu Dr. Hesti Pujiwati, SP, M.Si. In her speech, she expressed her hope that all participants would use this opportunity to draw closer to Allah SWT through the Quran and Hadith.

The main session featured Ustadz Al Ghazali, L.c, M. HI, who delivered a sermon on the significance of commemorating the Islamic New Year as a means to draw closer to the Quran. In his lecture, Ustadz Al Ghazali encouraged participants to:

  1. Recite and Read the Quran: Make reading the Quran a daily routine during Ramadan and throughout the year.
  2. Memorize the Quran: Encourage participants to memorize verses of the Quran, which helps strengthen memory and understanding of Islamic teachings.
  3. Practice the Quran: Emphasize the importance of practising the teachings of the Quran in daily life, both in worship and social interactions.
  4. Teach the Quran: Encourage participants to share their knowledge by teaching the Quran to others, so that the blessings of the Quran can be felt by more people.

Additionally, Ustadz Al Ghazali urged all participants to increase their voluntary acts of worship, such as performing rawatib prayers, dhuha, tahajud, and other acts to deepen faith and enhance spiritual quality.

The study session concluded at 12:15 WIB with a joint prayer. All participants were expected to take the lessons from the sermon and use them as motivation to improve their self-quality as true Muslims continuously. Thus, the Islamic New Year commemoration was not just a celebration but a moment for self-transformation towards the greater good.
