Tahsin Qur’an Training Towards the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an

The Tahsin Qur’an Training Towards the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an was organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Hesti Pudjiwati, SP., M.Si., and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D, attended the event. The training session was officially opened by Prof. Heri Dwi Putranto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D. and was attended by 30 selected students from the Faculty of Agriculture. The speakers for this training were Ustadz Henggar Wicaksono, S.Pd., and Ustadz Agung Roihan, S.Pd., Gr.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs emphasized that this training serves as a foundation of faith for participating students. He highlighted that faith is a crucial asset in navigating various phases of life, both during university studies and beyond. Students were encouraged to fully engage in the training, internalize the lessons, and apply the knowledge imparted by the instructors.

The training was conducted in two sessions.

🔹 The first session, held from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB, covered an introduction to the art of Tahsin Qur’an for beginners, an overview of the different maqamat (melodic modes) in Tahsin Qur’an, and a practical recitation session focusing on (Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 1 or Al-Qalam Ayat 1). This session was led by Ustadz Henggar Wicaksono, S.Pd.

🔹 The second session, held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM WIB, was delivered by Ustadz Agung Roihan, S.Pd., Gr. It included an introduction to Qur’anic recitation (tahsin) and the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), talent identification for potential participants in the competition, an overview of the rules of Tajweed and Makharijul Huruf (proper articulation of Arabic letters), and a practical session on the mujawwad (slow, melodic) recitation style using Surah Al-Baqarah (Verse 156) and Surah Al-Mujadilah (Verse 11).

The participants demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the training and expressed that the event was highly beneficial in strengthening their faith and devotion. Additionally, they appreciated the opportunity to develop their skills and talents while contributing to university activities related to MTQ and similar religious events.

At the conclusion of the training, the instructors selected ten outstanding participants. The top three participants received a copy of the Qur’an and a cash reward, while participants ranked 4th to 10th received cash prizes. These rewards motivate students to enhance their skills further and represent the Faculty of Agriculture in MTQ competitions at both the university and national levels
