FGD Proposal for the Establishment of a Marine Conservation Area in Kaur Regency

Kaur, September 2, 2024 – A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held at Hotel Mulia Kaur to discuss the proposal to establish a marine conservation area in Kaur Regency. Various relevant stakeholders, including village officials and fishermen from Sekunyit, Sukarami, Merpas, and Linau villages, attended the event.

The FGD featured two main speakers: Nella Tri Agustini, S.Kel., M.Si., and Mr. Akbar Abdurrahman, M.Si., both from the University of Bengkulu. The speakers presented their views and insights on the importance of marine conservation efforts in the area, focusing on ecosystem sustainability and improving the welfare of local communities.

The event was opened by the Head of the Marine Spatial Planning Division of the Bengkulu Provincial Marine and Fisheries Department (DKP), who gave a speech and expressed appreciation for the initiative to protect the coastal and marine environment of Kaur Regency.

The event proceeded smoothly, with productive discussions between the speakers and participants. The FGD participants were also allowed to express their views and ideas on establishing a conservation area that could support environmental preservation while benefiting the local economy, particularly for fishermen and coastal communities.

Through this event, it is hoped that agreements and concrete actions will be made to establish a marine conservation area that will benefit environmental sustainability and improve the quality of life for the people of Kaur Regency as a whole.
