
THE MARINE SCIENCE STUDY PROGRAM HOSTS HYBRID NATIONAL SEMINARS ON MARINE AND FISHERY RESEARCH AND LAB INNOVATIONS
The National Seminar on Marine and Fishery Results is an annual event organized by the Marine Science Study Program. This year, following two years of virtual formats, the seminar was conducted in a hybrid format over two days, on September 25-26, 2024. In-person sessions took place at the Gedung Layanan Terpadu (GLT), 2nd Floor, University of Bengkulu, while online participation was facilitated via Zoom. This year’s seminar theme was “Optimalisasi dan Urgensi Produk Kelautan dan Perikanan serta Kontribusi Inovasi Laboratorium dalam Mendukung Blue Food Menuju Ketahanan dan Keamanan Pangan Nasional.” This event aimed to showcase research findings in marine and fisheries and involved collaboration with the Educational Laboratory Officer (PLP) from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bengkulu.
The implementation commenced on September 25, 2024, with the opening of the National Seminar by the Vice Rector of Planning and Corporation Affairs, University of Bengkulu, Prof. Dr. Irfan Gustian, S.Si., M.Si. Before the inaugural remarks, the head of the Marine Science Study Program also addressed the audience. The Head of the Committee, Nur Lina Maratana Nabiu, S.Pi., M.Si., reported that, in addition to the seminar activities featuring experts from various fields relevant to the theme, the first day of the National Seminar included a parallel session. This allowed researchers, laboratory assistants, students, and other stakeholders to present their research findings related to the theme. The Parallel Session took place following the conclusion of the Seminar Session. According to the head of the committee’s report, over 100 online and offline participants from across Indonesia participated in the National Seminar. In the Panel Session, the Marine Science Study Program invited three distinguished speakers: Leonardo Adypurnama, also known as Teguh Sambodo, Ph.D. (BAPPENAS), Prof. Dr. Mala Nurimala (IPB University), and Prof. Dr. Mhd Ikhwanudin Abdullah (AKUATROP UMT), moderated by Nurlaila Ervina Herliany, S.Pi., M.Si.

In addition to partnering with the PLP Faculty of Agriculture and the University of Bengkulu, the Marine Science Study Program collaborates with several local universities as co-hosts. Specifically, the co-hosting universities include Prof. Dr. Hazairin University, SH, the Akademi Negeri Rejang Lebong, and Oesman Sapta Odang University. This collaborative effort is designed to strengthen inter-university cooperation and engage a wider array of academics in activities and discussions focused on Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

The second day of the seminar focused on laboratories on September 26, 2025, was a resounding success. Distinct experts Ir. Nana Heryana, S.T., M.T., ASEAN Eng (ITB), and Eka Fitrianto, S.T., M.T. captivated the audience with their insightful presentations on laboratory innovation and the vital role of collaboration among educational institutions in driving this innovation forward.

The two-day seminar also featured an engaging showcase of local UMKM product stands from Bengkulu Province, highlighting exceptional Marine and Fishery products such as Evi Tenggiri, Krupuk Tuiri, Uni JN Selengek Krispi, Omey, and Cita Rasa Rossy. This initiative was supported by the Faculty of Agriculture and the University of Bengkulu and garnered substantial backing from various sponsors. Key supporters included industry leaders like PT. SMART Lab Indonesia, PT. Sinergi Mitra Analitika, PT. Genecraft Labs, PT. Besha Analitika, Wiralab, Bank BRI, PELINDO, LATUN, Wardah, Klinik Pratama Paten, and Yakult. Together, we are fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration that will undoubtedly shape our region’s future of marine and fishery and laboratory practices.
